Professor Tadeusz Wolsza
Professor Tadeusz Wolsza is a recognized Polish historian and political scientist (academic affiliations: Institute of History at the Polish Academy of Sciences in Warsaw, the Casimir the Great University at Bydgoszcz, Institute of National Remembrance). He was born in 1956 in Poland. He specializes in the contemporary history of Poland, especially in the wartime and postwar Polish political émigré community, the Katyn Massacre, the anti-Communist resistance movement in Poland, and Stalinist crimes in postwar Poland. Professor Wolsza has published over 280 academic papers and books, and some of them have been translated into Russian, German, English, Italian, Serbian, and Slovak.
Profesor Tadeusz Wolsza jest uznanym polskim historykiem ( afiliacje naukowe: Instytut Historii PAN w Warszawie, Uniwersytet Kazimierza Wielkiego w Bydgoszczy, Instytut Pamięci Narodowej). Urodził się w 1956 roku w Polsce. Specjalizuje się w najnowszej historii Polski, zwłaszcza w polskiej emigracji politycznej okresu wojennego i powojennego, Zbrodni Katyńskiej, antykomunistycznym ruchu oporu w Polsce oraz zbrodniach stalinowskich w powojennej Polsce. Profesor Wolsza opublikował ponad 280 artykułów naukowych i książek. Niektóre z nich zostały przetłumaczone na język rosyjski, niemiecki, angielski, włoski, serbski i słowacki.

Dan Pogorzelski is a writer and editor for the website Forgotten Chicago as well as a contributor to the the journal European Foreign Affairs. Serving as the Vice President of the Northwest Chicago Historical Society, Dan has coauthored four history books from the Images of America series on the neighborhoods of Portage Park, Bridgeport, Logan Square, as well as Avondale and Chicago’s Polish Village.
A native resident of Chicago’s Northwest Side, Dan has been civically involved in a number of community initiatives improving this often overlooked part of Chicago. Among them are helping to organize and paint murals, serving on the board of the Logan Square Chamber of Arts, as well as volunteering w/ the Polish Triangle Coalition and the Northwest Arts Connection. He was also alongside John Maloof, one of the initiators of the Portage Monument at Six Corners by Ted Sitting Crow Garner. Dan also volunteers for the Polish Museum of America and serves as social media coordinator for Czech-American TV.

Daniel Pogorzelski jest pisarzem i redaktorem portalu “Forgotten Chicago” oraz współpracownikiem czasopisma European Foreign Affairs. Pełniąc funkcję wiceprezesa Northwest Chicago Historical Society został współautorem czterech książek historycznych z serii “Images of America”, dotyczących dzielnic Portage Park Bridgeport, Logan Square i Chicago’s Polish Village.

DR LUCJA MIROWSKA – KOPEC – ALLIANCE OF POLISH CLUBS IN THE USA
Dr. Lucja Mirowska-Kopec is an educationalist fully dedicated to teaching and puts her heart and soul into her professional and social work. For ten years after graduating in German from the University of Wrocław, she was a teacher of German. On arriving in Chicago in 1991, she started working as a teacher at Edwards Elementary School, first as a teacher in the Polish bilingual program, and subsequently as head of the bilingual program. In 2005–2007, she was deputy head of Hubbard High School, Chicago. On July 1, 2007, she became head of the celebrated Arthur E. Canty Elementary School, the first woman from the latest wave of immigrants from Poland to be appointed to such a prestigious post.
Since arriving in the United States, apart from attending numerous conferences and courses, Dr. Lucja Mirowska-Kopec has earned two master’s degrees, in Urban Teaching from Columbia College and in Educational Leadership from Northeastern Illinois University. She had also earned a Ph.D. in Education from Nova Southeastern University. She co-edited the second edition of the book Biznesowe inspiracje Polek na świecie, which also came out in an English version entitled Business Inspirations of Polish Women in the World (2019).
Dr. Mirowska-Kopec is the creator of the Polish Academic Olympics for Chicago Public Schools students and was its project head for five years. She is an active member of the Alliance of Polish Clubs and has served as its President since September 2021. She has served as Vice-President of the Parade Committee, and for a decade chaired the committee for the Election of the Queen of the Polish Constitution Day Parade.
In 2010 Dr. Mirowska-Kopec helped the President of the Polish American Congress to organize the national Polonia conference entitled “The Polish American Community in the 21st Century: Challenges and Opportunities.” In December 2018 she co-organized an exhibition on the United States in Polish historiography and periodicals, 1764 – 1919. Since 2018, Dr. Mirowska-Kopec has served as Chairperson of the St. John Paul II Scholarship Committee of the Catholic League for Religious Assistance to Poland and Polonia.

Dr Łucja Mirowska-Kopeć, sercem i duszą pedagog, która zarówno w pracy zawodowej jak i społecznej, poświęca całą energię wychowaniu i kształceniu dzieci i młodzieży. Po ukończeniu Germanistyki na Uniwersytecie Wrocławskim przez dziesięć lat uczyła języka niemieckiego. Po przyjeździe do Chicago w 1991 roku, podjęła pracę zawodową w Szkole Podstawowej Edwards, gdzie początkowo pracowała jako nauczycielka w polskim programie dwujęzycznym, następnie jako kierownik programu dwujęzycznego. W latach 2005 – 2007 pełniła funkcję zastępcy dyrektora w szkole średniej Hubbard High School w Chicago. Od 1 lipca 2007 r. jako pierwsza Polka nowej emigracji pełniła funkcje dyrektora w prestiżowej szkoły Arthur E. Canty Elementary School.

W grudniu 2018 roku współorganizowała wystawę Stany Zjednoczone w polskiej historiografii i periodykach w latach 1764-1919. PAWEŁ KURTYKA – THE JANUSZ KURTYKA FOUNDATION
Paweł Kurtyka is a qualified architect and manager. He holds two master’s degrees, one from the Faculty of Architecture of the Cracow University of Technology, and another from the Faculty of History of the Jagiellonian University. He is the Vice-President of AMW Invest sp. z o.o., a Polish designers’ company. His experience in entrepreneurship comes from his work in the management of architectural design projects, real estate market research and real estate management. He has also served as the manager of the design and investment department of the Museum of John Paul II and Primate Wyszyński, which opened recently in the Wilanów district of Warsaw. Paweł Kurtyka acquired his experience in corporate governance during a term of service as Chairman of the Supervisory Board of the Polish Military Property Agency. He has passed the qualifying examination for supervisory board members of Polish state-owned companies. He is a member of the jury for the Custodian of National Remembrance Award. Since 2010 Paweł Kurtyka has contributed to the organizing and administrative work of several Polish NGOs. He is the Founder and President of the Board of the Janusz Kurtyka Foundation. He is also the Founder of the Polish students’ association Studenci dla Rzeczypospolitej and in 2010-2014 served as its President; currently he is the association’s Honorary President. He served on the organizing team which drafted the program for the Wizja dla Młodego Pokolenia (Vision for the Young Generation) project, which operates under the patronage of President Andrzej Duda. He has also co-organized the agenda for Forum Wspólnie dla Przyszłości (the Together for the Future Forum), as well as a cycle of conferences on the current situation of the Polish State. On March 1, 2019, President Duda conferred the Bronze Cross of Merit on Paweł Kurtyka for his work to commemorate Polish history and disseminate information on the Indomitable Soldiers.

JAN CYTOWSKI – CANADIAN POLISH CONGRESS, TORONTO
Jan Cytowski is a graduate of the Faculty of Automotive and Construction Machinery Engineering of Warsaw University of Engineering. Before he left Poland, he worked in the motor industry and was employed by the Warsaw Automotive Industry Institute. In 1980, he was one of the founding members and co-organizers of the branch of the Solidarity Trade Union operating in the Institute, and subsequently served as its Chairman. At the National Convention of the Solidarity Trade Union, he was elected Deputy Chairman of its National Committee for Professional Training Centers.
Jan Cytowski has lived in Canada since 1982 and has been employed by Magna International Inc. for over two decades. He has been a member of the Association of Polish Engineers in Canada since 1983. In 2002-2011, he served as President of the Toronto Branch of the Canadian Polish Congress. In 2010-2016, he was First Vice-President of the Board of the Canadian Polish Congress and its Vice-President for Polish Affairs. At the Fourth World Polonia and Polish Diaspora Congress, which was held in Warsaw in 2012, he chaired the Commission for the Protection of the Reputation of Poland and the Polish People. In November 2013, he was elected Chairman of the Convention of the World Polonia Council, which has a membership of Polonia organizations from 33 countries, and he held this office until 2017. In 2016-19, he was a member of the Polonia Advisory Council to the Speaker of the Senate of the Republic of Poland. Currently he is Vice-President of the board of the Toronto Branch of the Canadian Polish Congress, and President of the Committee for the Propagation and Protection of the Reputation of Poland and the Polish People. He is also a member of the Polish Combatants’ Association in Canada, and of the Polish National Union of Canada.
MGR INŻ. JAN CYTOWSKI – KONGRES POLONII KANADYJSKIEJ, TORONTO
Jest absolwentem wydziału Maszyn Roboczych i Pojazdów Politechniki Warszawskiej, magister inżynier mechanik. W Polsce pracował w przemyśle motoryzacyjnym w Przemysłowym Instytucie Motoryzacji w Warszawie, gdzie w 1980 roku współorganizował Koło NSZZ “Solidarność”, a następnie pełnił funkcje Przewodniczącego Komisji Zakładowej. Na krajowym Zjeździe NSZZ “Solidarność” został wybrany wiceprzewodniczącym Komisji Krajowej NSZZ „Solidarność” Zakładów Doskonalenia Zawodowego.
W Kanadzie od 1982 r. Ponad dwadzieścia lat zatrudniony w Magna International. Od 1983 roku jest członkiem Stowarzyszenia Inżynierów Polskich w Kanadzie. Od 2002 do 2011 r. pełnił funkcję prezesa Okręgu Toronto Kongresu Polonii Kanadyjskiej. W latach 2010-2016 pełnił funkcję I wiceprezesa ZG KPK oraz ds. polskich. Na IV Światowym Zjedzie Polonii w Warszawie w 2012 r. przewodniczył Komisji Obrony Dobrego Imienia Polski i Polaków. Na Zjeździe Rady Polonii Świata w listopadzie 2013 r., wybrany został przewodniczącym Rady Polonii Świata, zrzeszającej organizacje polonijne z 33 krajów i pełnił tą funkcję do 2017 r. W latach 2016-19 r. był członkiem Polonijnej Rady Konsultacyjnej przy Marszałku Senatu RP. Obecnie pełni funkcję wiceprezesa Zarządu Okręgu Toronto KPK, przewodniczy Komisji Propagowania i Obrony Dobrego Imienia Polski i Polaków. Jest również członkiem Stowarzyszenia Polskich Kombatantów i Związku Narodowego Polskiego w Kanadzie.
BARTŁOMIEJ HABROWSKI – POLISH NATIONAL UNION OF CANADA, BRANCH 1
Bartłomiej Habrowski has been living in Canada since 1978 and has served for many years as an instructor (now retired) for ZHP Polish Scouting and Guiding Association packs outside of Poland. He has also served for many years on the board of governors of the Toronto Branch of the Canadian Polish Congress. Member of the Polish National Union of Canada (Związek Narodowy Polski) since 1998, serving for several terms as President of Branch 1, its largest and most vigorous unit. Currently Branch 1’s Vice-President for Cultural Affairs.
Poland and Polonia have always been dear to Bartłomiej Habrowski, who believes that the Polish communities scattered throughout the world have an important role to play, especially to protect their Home Country’s interests and uphold its good reputation.
Bartłomiej is happily married, and the proud father of two children and grandfather of two grandchildren.
BARTŁOMIEJ HABROWSKI – ZWIĄZEK NARODOWY POLSKI W KANADZIE, GMINA 1
W Kanadzie jest od 1978 roku. Jest wieloletnim instruktorem harcerskim w Związku Harcerstwa Polskiego poza granicami Kraju (obecnie w stanie spoczynku ). Od wielu lat działa we władzach Kongresu Polonii Kanadyjskiej Okręgu Toronto. Od 1998 roku jest aktywnym członkiem Związku Narodowego Polskiego, przez parę kadencji był prezesem Gminy 1 ZNPwK, największej i najbardziej aktywnej z Gmin Związku. Obecnie od paru lat jest jej wiceprezesem d/s kulturalnych.
Sprawy Polski i Polonii były zawsze bliskie Jego sercu. Uważa, że Polonia rozsiana na całym świecie ma do spełnienia ważną rolę, szczególnie w dziedzinie obrony interesów naszej Ojczyzny i obrony Jej dobrego imienia.
Prywatnie szczęśliwy mąż, ojciec dwójki dzieci i dziadek dwóch wnuków.
GENE SOKOLOWSKI – POLISH AMERICAN STRATEGIC INITIATIVE EDU
Dr. Gene Sokolowski serves as president of PASI EDU (Polish American Strategic Initiative Education Organization). A newly-incorporated nonprofit organization, PASI EDU’s mission is to educate Americans and interested others by countering the distortions of Polish and Polish-American history in public school curricula, academic and public literature, online news journals, and educational websites. His father survived the Gross-Rosen, Dachau, Natzweiler Struthof, and Neuengamme concentration camps, after which Dr. Sokolowski was born in a Displaced Persons camp in Allied-occupied Germany.
Having emigrated to the United States in 1951 with his father, he grew up in a Swedish Lutheran orphanage. Following his retirement as a career Air Force officer, he was a systems analyst with Northrop Grumman and a Telecommunications Specialist with the Federal Government. He has undergraduate degrees in Mathematics and German, graduate degrees in Systems Management and Science and Technology Policy, and a doctorate in Public Policy. Recently retired, he and his wife have three adult children and six grandchildren.
GENE SOKOLOWSKI – POLISH AMERICAN STRATEGIC INITIATIVE EDU
Dr Gene Sokolowski pełni funkcję prezesa PASI EDU ( Polish American Strategic Initiative Education Organization). Misją tej nowo-założonej organizacji non-profit jest edukacja Amerykanów oraz osób zainteresowanych poprzez przeciwdziałanie wypaczaniu polskiej i polsko – amerykańskiej historii w programach szkolnych, literaturze akademickiej i powszechnej, prasie internetowej i portalach edukacyjnych.
Ojciec Gena Sokolowskiego przeżył gehennę obozów koncentracyjnych: Gross-Rosen, Dachau, Natzweiler Struthof i Neuengamme. Pan Gene Sokolowski urodził się w obozie dla polskich wysiedleńców ( Displaced Persons Camp) na terytorium Niemiec zajętym przez Aliantów. W 1951 wyemigrował do Stanów Zjednoczonych ze swoim Ojcem. Dorastał w sierocińcu. Pracował jako oficer Sił Powietrznych USA, analityk systemowy w Northrop Grumman, jako specjalista ds. telekomunikacji w Rządzie Federalnym. Posiada stopień licencjacki z Matematyki, Germanistyki a także tytuł magisterski z Zarządzania Systemami oraz z Polityki Naukowo-Technologicznej. Zdobył tytuł doktora Polityki Publicznej.
Niedawno przeszedł na emeryturę. Ma żonę i troje dorosłych dzieci oraz sześcioro wnucząt.
TOMASZ SZYBOWSKI – POLISH CULTURAL FOUNDATION (CLARK, NEW JERSEY BRANCH), Board
Member since 2015. Served for two terms (on a voluntary basis) as the Foundation’s
President; currently its Vice-President. Our mission is to promote Polish culture, tradition, and values, as well as the Polish language. The Polish Cultural Foundation is taking an active part in the protection of the Katyn Memorial in New Jersey. We have organized events such as the white-and-red illumination of the Katyn Memorial; the anniversary of the Battle of Grunwald, which was held in front of the King Jagiełło Statue in Central Park, New York; the commemoration of June 14, 1940 (for the anniversary of the first deportation of Polish prisoners to Auschwitz); the Volhynian Massacre (1943-45); the Warsaw Uprising (1944); the Battle of Warsaw (1920); and many other Polish patriotic, cultural, artistic, and educational events. We run a Polish school, a library with a collection of over 18 thousand volumes, and an art gallery. The Polish Cultural Foundation accommodates a Polish scouting center and the editorial office of a local Polish paper on its premises.
TOMASZ SZYBOWSKI – POLSKA FUNDACJA KULTURALNA W CLARK, New Jersey
Członek Zarządu Fundacji od 2015 roku. Pełnił funkcję (pro bono) m.in. prezesa przed dwie kadencje. Obecnie wiceprezesa. Naszą misją jest promowanie polskiej kultury, tradycji, wartości, języka. Polska Fundacja Kulturalna jest zaangażowana m.in. w aktywną obronę Pomnika Katyńskiego w Jersey City. Organizowaliśmy ponadto m.in. oświetlenie pomnika Katyńskiego na biało-czerwono, rocznicę Bitwy pod Grunwaldem pod pomnikiem Króla Jagiełły w Central Parku w Nowym Jorku, uroczystości upamiętniające rocznicę 14 czerwca 1940, Rzezi Wołyńskiej, Powstania Warszawskiego, Bitwy Warszawskiej oraz wiele innych wydarzeń patriotycznych, kulturalnych, artystycznych, oświatowych. Fundacja prowadzi polską szkołę, bibliotekę z ponad 18 tys. woluminów, galerię sztuki, w Fundacji ma swoją siedzibę Ośrodek Harcerski oraz polska gazeta.
